Almost all packed up.

Almost ready for the trip to the new home.
Remembered some of my packing tricks from my trade-show days and it turned out that we have room for it all.
Still a few heavy containers to go but they won’t go in until travelling day.

D7K_1528 Little bit of reshuffling here yet. As I said, almost all packed up.

And the winner is….

Going to have to call this a draw.

Got the hot water tank drained and bypassed, but only with jury-rig results. Didn’t use enough teflon or enough force so it’s dripping a bit once water pressure is applied. However, it will do the job it was designed for: getting fresh water antifreeze into the lines. After that the pump is turned off anyways, so no pressure.

Switch for hot water ignition has been unplugged, hopefully preventing an accidental turn on.

My (hopefully) last GMC Challenge

The Coach sold As Is… but I want to do what I can to make for an easy transition for the Coach to its new home. One major difference of the new home compared to old is geographic. In the past the GMC only visited cold climates, now it will be living in it.

The requirement to Winterize is now real.

Access to the fresh water tank and pump is always a bit of a challenge but even more so when you want to drain the tank completely.

Took a while but eventually got it done. Left the tank outlet to pump disconnected so that any remaining water, should the be some, can drain during the trip home. Connected a temporary pump inlet so that we can pump fresh water antifreeze into the lines and drains.

Drained the hot water tank but have to jury-rig a bypass so that we can the antifreeze into the hot water lines too. Trip to the store for some fittings. Since winter storage was never an issue for me I never did install a permanent hot water tank by-pass. Something for Rob to do while he waits for snow to melt at home.

It’s been good fussing around looking for stuff. Brings back memories, some good, some bad. Keeping busy is good.

Collecting 20+ years of GMC stuff.

A lot of stuff collected over the years. In most cases, every time I enhanced, I also kept the stuff that was being enhanced, i.e. the old stuff. Not everything, but a lot.

Some of my enhancements were borderline bleeding edge so I always wanted to be able to go back. Turned out I never did. Sometimes an enhance had to be re-enhanced as something newer/better became available but I don’t recall ever having to go backwards.

Sold

Had a few folks expressing serious, and some not so serious, interest. Rob was on the road, driving in from Grand Forks already when I received an I’ll take it email from the East Coast. I replied that I had an interested party on the road and that they would have first crack at it. Long story short… Rob said I want it.

Now that the coach has been sold there is only a bit of time left and it will be departing for its new home in Grand Forks, BC.
